Program Application Process
The deadline for receipt of applications for the Graduate Periodontics Program is September 15th of each year. Two graduate students are selected for the program each year. Since graduate students in this program are classified as graduate teaching assistants, tuition is assessed at the in-state resident rate. Presently, tuition and fees are approximately $4,100.00 per year. Graduate students who qualify receive a stipend of $6,000.00 per year.
For applicants with a DDS or DMD degree from dental schools accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, the application consists of two separate parts:
Part I
The first part of the application involves materials to be submitted directly to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Office of Admissions and Records. These materials include:
- On-line Application
- $65.00 application fee
- Official transcripts of all college and dental school coursework which should be mailed to:

Part II
The second part of the application involves materials to be submitted directly to the Department of Periodontics. These materials include:
- Dean's letter stating class rank and cumulative GPA. Applicants should have a dental school GPA of at least 3.0
- Three letters of recommendation, one of which may be the Dean's letter
- Official National Board Examination scores (Parts I and II)
- Personal Motivation Statement

International Applicants
Applicants with a dental degree from a school not accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation may be accepted. International applicants must follow Part I and Part II of the application process outlined above.
The following are additional requirements for international applicants:
- Transcript(s) / marksheet(s) processed (Course-by-Course Report) through WES (World Education Services - Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation). The Office of Admissions and Records will accept only WES credential evaluation from international applicants. For further information, please visit the WES website here.
- TOEFL scores are required for applicants from countries where the native language is not English. (minimum score 570)
