The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery occasionally offers a one-year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The internship is intimately associated with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program; however, the intern typically staffs and operates a dentoalveolar clinic within the College of Dentistry. This dentoalveolar clinic may or may not be associated with teaching undergraduate dental students in the science of dental extractions and other oral surgical procedures.
The intern will be required to participate in all grand rounds that occur within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department and participate in a research project that may be publishable in nature. Applicants must be eligible for state licensure and have completed a dental program accredited by the American Dental Association in addition to successful completion of Part 1 and 2 of national boards.
Specific information need for applicants for the internship include:
- One copy of board scores
- One copy of transcripts
- One copy of curriculum vitae
- One letter of intent and what your short and long-term goals are
- Three letters of recommendation
