Programs Offered
The General Dentistry Program is a four-year curriculum designed to prepare dentists for general practice and leads to a Doctor of Dental Surgery.
The Dental Hygiene Program is a two-year curriculum built upon a minimum of two years (60 semester hours) of prerequisite undergraduate coursework. Successful completion of the program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.
Several advanced dental education programs are offered through the College of Dentistry. These include a 30-month M.S. program in Orthodontics, a 36-month M.S. program in Periodontics, a four-year hospital-based residency in Oral Surgery, and a one-year residency program for Advanced Education in General Dentistry.
A 26-month Advanced Standing Program enables dentists trained in countries outside the U.S. and Canada to earn a D.D.S. from the University of Oklahoma.
