Message from the Dean

Welcome to the UDean Cohlmianiversity of Oklahoma College of Dentistry! Whether you are a prospective student, eager to explore the dental profession; someone in need of dental care, searching for a trusted, affordable provider; or one of our alums, eager to reengage with the college, we thank you for your interest in our school.

As the state of Oklahoma’s only Doctor of Dental Surgery program, we continue to strive towards our mission of providing top-quality dental care to Oklahomans and to be an innovative leader in transforming the future of dentistry.

It is our goal for the college to be recognized and both the top clinical education program and the top clinical research program in the nation. And the word is getting out!

For the past two years, our Admissions Department has received a record number of applications for both our traditional four-year D.D.S. program and our international dental training program. In a time where the national trend is showing a decline in the number of applications at dental colleges, we here at the OU College of Dentistry are proud to say that our current student body is among the brightest in the nation.

Thanks to our outstanding faculty and rigorous curriculum, our students are graduating with more clinical experience than their colleagues from other institutions. Our curriculum is developed around a patient-centered comprehensive care model, meaning individual students provide their patients’ complete oral health care from start to finish.

The idea behind the comprehensive care model, and the philosophy of the College, is simple: focus on patient care and patient experience. By emphasizing these two key items and achieving a pleasant, efficient experiences, exceptional educational experiences will occur organically.

As you review our website, we hope you share in our excitement about the programs and services we offer. We look forward to working with and serving you in the future.

Raymond A. Cohlmia, D.D.S.
Dean of the OU College of Dentistry
