Helder Baldi Jacob, DDS, MSc, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Program Director at The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Jacob completed his dental education in Brazil in 1994 at Sao Paulo State University Araraquara School of Dentistry (UNESP). He received his postgraduate certificate in Orthodontics from UNESP in 1999 where he also received his Master and Doctorate degrees in 2006 and 2011, respectively.

He worked in private practice until 2011 while managing to stay in contact with academics. Dr. Jacob joined Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in 2011 as a Postdoc fellow and became a faculty in 2014 as Instructor due to his expertise in orthodontic biomechanics and clinical research. In 2016, he joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry as Assistant Professor, where he also received his certificate degree in orthodontics in 2022. At UTHealth, Dr. Jacob was course director in Biomechanics and Biomaterials, and Topics in Orthodontics; he also collaborated in several other courses as co-director and lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics and other Departments. In addition, he maintained active faculty practice and research during his time in Texas.

Dr. Jacob has been part of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences, Department of Developmental Sciences, Division of Orthodontics since August 2024. He has been involved in research with undergraduate and graduate students, and developing collaborations with the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Jacob has published book chapters and over 50 manuscripts (peer-reviewed and special topics). He has been invited as speaker in several national and international meetings including the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Annual Session and World Federation of Orthodontics (WFO).
