Sarah Justus

Dr. Sarah Justus-McMakin is an Associate Professor and Director of the Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Diagnostic and Preventive Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.

Dr. Justus-McMakin earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. During her undergraduate studies, she received several leadership awards, the 4.0 Grade Point Average Medallion, and was inducted into Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society.

She earned a Master of Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Oklahoma State University, where she received the Robert B. Kamm Distinguished Graduate Fellowship.

Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry faculty, Dr. Justus-McMakin practiced in a private dental office in Oklahoma City. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Education Association, and the Oklahoma Dental Hygienists’ Association. She has also served as a delegate for the Oklahoma County Dental Hygienists’ Association.

Her professional interests include teaching, research, community service, and providing care to underserved populations.
