COVID-19 Updates and Patient Information

In an effort to best serve our patients, beginning Monday, May 4, the OU College of Dentistry will resume non-emergent patient appointments.

Call (405) 271-7744 to schedule an appointment.

However, the college is implementing new policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our patients, faculty, residents, staff and students.

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Oklahoma, all patients will be required to participate in a screening process upon entering the building. Please be aware this may take several minutes. We ask that you allow a little extra time before your appointment. Patients are asked to maintain social distancing (6 feet) from others. These protocols are in place to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of our faculty, residents, staff and students. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time.

From the Dean

In addition, the college is asking that patients bring their own masks with them to their appointments and wear them while in the building. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. All patients, faculty, residents, staff and students are required to wear a mask at all times. Patients will be directed when it is safe to take their mask off for their procedure.

At this time, the college will not be allowing visitors to accompany adult patients to their appointments. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for adult patients who require assistance from a guardian or caregiver. Pediatric patients (i.e., patients who are 18 years of age or younger) may be accompanied by one parent or guardian over the age of 18. Please note: designated chairs, which are spaced to allow for social distancing, will be available for patients and their visitors outside of each clinic.

The college is taking the COVID-19 epidemic seriously and will continue to monitor Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Dental Association (ADA) and Oklahoma Dental Association (ODA) guidelines, as well as orders from the Governor of Oklahoma. We will continue to make adjustments to our clinic operations as needed. The health of our patients, faculty, residents, staff and students is of the utmost importance.
