Jaewon Kim Took Home First Place at the Saudi International Periodontics Conference 2021

OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry is pleased to announce that Jaewon Kim, D.D.S., MSD, Ph.D., was awarded first place in an E-Poster competition in the case report category, titled ‘Clinical Applications of 3D Printing Technique in Advanced Dental Surgery with Fused Filament Fabrication and Stereolithography’ at the Saudi International Periodontics Conference 2021. 

“I am very honored to win this award again, and I will keep pursuing my career in research and education in division of Periodontics, and overall development at the OU College of Dentistry,” said Dr. Kim. “I have a very strong interest in field of 3D printing, and I am blessed to work in an environment that is very supportive. I would also like to support any dental students or residents who wants to attend competitions like this, and win. So, if anyone is interested, please let me know!”

Dr. Kim began his career with an interest in oral surgery in 2006. He completed four years of residency and later attended Yonsei University School of Dentistry in Seoul, South Korea to obtain a Ph.D. in dental science. He later went to Canada where he passed their licensure to practice in general dentistry. After working in general dentistry for a couple of years, Dr. Kim moved to New York to join the University at Buffalo School of Dentistry’s Advanced Education in Periodontics program.  

In 2021, Dr. Kim completed the periodontics program and an oral biology master’s program in Buffalo. He then joined the faculty in the Department of Periodontics at the OU College of Dentistry in September 2021.

This is the second time Dr. Kim has won this award. He was awarded first place in the same category in 2020. Congratulations, Dr. Kim.
