Donna F. Wood, RDH, MS, MEd, PhD(c), is an Associate Professor and serves as the Director of the Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Diagnostic and Preventive Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.  Mrs. Wood received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Oklahoma, her Master of Science degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, and her Master’s of Education from the University of Oklahoma.  Mrs. Wood is currently a PhD candidate in Adult and Higher Education at the University of Oklahoma with plans to graduate in 2022.     

Mrs. Wood practiced dental hygiene in Tulsa for 25 years before entering the educational arena. She was recognized as the 2016 Alumnus of the Year by the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry Alumni Association.  In 2019, she received the Delta Dental Distinguished Service Award from Delta Dental of Oklahoma. While at the College of Dentistry, Mrs. Wood has been selected as the Outstanding Full Time Dental Hygiene Program Faculty Member on five occasions by her graduating students.

Upon graduation from UMKC, Mrs. Wood was selected as a member of the Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society.  She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and has served as an Oklahoma Delegate for three years.  She is also a member of the American Dental Educator Association, the Academy of Human Resource Development and the Oklahoma Dental Hygienists’ Association, in which she served as President in 2017-2018.  Mrs. Wood currently  serves on the Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee for the Oklahoma State Board of Dentistry. She has also served as a WREB examiner for the last 7 years. Since it’s inception, Mrs. Wood has served as a lead volunteer in the area of dental hygiene for the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy. Her passion lies in community service, providing care to underserved populations.
