Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Clinic

If you are seeking complete dentistry with the benefit of reduced fees, the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Clinic may be the right option for you. The residents who provide care through the AEGD program obtain experience and education in general dentistry that goes beyond the parameters of their predoctoral education. Patients of the AEGD Clinic receive comprehensive dental care from professional providers and staff.

The AEGD clinic provides patients with a wide array of services to enhance dental health. These include:

  • Prophylaxis cleaning and examinations
  • Dentures and removable partial dentures
  • Extractions
  • Emergency Dental Care
  • Endodontics (treatment of diseases of the dental pulp and surrounding tissue)
  • Implants
  • Periodontics (treatment of diseases of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth, such as the gums)
  • Restorative Dentistry

We also utilize state-of-the-art technology, including digital radiography, digital impressions and CAD/CAM-assisted crown design and fabrication (eliminating the need for temporary crowns).

Finding out if you are a candidate for treatment by our practice is a simple process. To become a patient of the AEGD program, individuals are evaluated to determine if their dental needs are appropriate for treatment in the residency program. We are always looking for patients who need complex dental treatment, such as tooth replacement with implants or smile improvement with aesthetic dental procedures. Typically, the fees associated with these services are approximately 40 percent less than those charged by a private dental practice.

Becoming a Patient

Visit 1 (Screening)

Patients are briefly examined during a screening appointment. The screening exam costs $65 and the panoramic x-ray at the screening exam costs $88. The goal of the appointment is to assess the dental needs of the patient and the experience a resident will receive by providing treatment. Because of the need to find dental cases that match our residents’ requirements, cases that are extremely routine or are too difficult will not be accepted for treatment. Other factors that determine whether a patient is a candidate for our program may include the patient's medical condition and ability to afford potential treatment.

Visit 2 (Initial Workup)

Once accepted into the AEGD program for treatment, a second appointment will be made during which the patient has an initial work-up. This will include photos, X-rays, examination and models of the mouth to evaluate the oral conditions and assist in forulating a treatment plan. This visit costs approximately $214.

Visit 3 (Treatment Proposal)

The third visit with AEGD is typically the time when patients are presented with proposed treatment options, length and steps of the treatment and associated fees.
