Monday, September 19

Campus Kick-off Event

The college is hosting food trucks on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Campus on Monday, Sept. 19 to kick-off the week and our 50th anniversary celebration.

Time: 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. 
Location: Robert M. Bird Library Patio, directly South of the college.
Cost: Free for all OU College of Dentistry faculty, staff and students who RSVP (check your campus email). Plus, we welcome the entire HSC campus to celebrate with us! The first 200 HSC students and employees to present their HSC ID will receive a ticket to purchase food at one of the food trucks ($10 value), compliments of generous donors!

Retired Faculty and Staff Luncheon

The College of Dentistry is excited to host our annual retired faculty and staff luncheon. Dean Paul M. Mullasseril D.D.S., M.S., and other college leaders will be in attendance to welcome guests.

Time: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 
Location: Faculty Atrium, located within the Robert M. Bird Library, directly South of the College.
Cost: This is a free event for retired faculty and staff and a guest

Parking Information: Please park in the Stonewall Parking Garage (P4), the entrance is Stonewall Ave. directly across from the College of Dentistry. Don't forget to bring your ticket to the event, it will be validated there.

College Tours

College tours will be hosted Wednesday afternoon. Chances are, a lot has changed since the last time your visited campus. Join us as we showcase our new areas, and discuss plans for future renovations.

Time: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Meet in the College of Dentistry lobby

Dean's Circle Dinner and Alumni Awards Ceremony

The college is excited to once again host our annual Dean's Circle Dinner and Alumni Awards Ceremony. This event recognizes the college's Dean's Circle members for their generosity and support throughout the year. It will be an evening of dining, entertainment, and fellowship. 
Location: Omni Hotel
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Cost: This event is free for Dean's Circle members, who will receive a formal invitation in the mail.

Continuing Education Conference

The College is hosting a full day of continuing education with a guest speaker on Friday, September 23, on the OU Health Sciences Center campus. Breakfast and lunch will be available for those in attendance. 

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Nicholson Conference Center, OU Health Sciences Center
Credits: 6 Lecture Hours
Cost: This event is free for OU College of Dentistry Alumni and faculty; however, pre-registration is required.

"During a Topsy-Turvy Economic Environment Effective Dental Practice Management is Critical for Sustainable Dental Practice Success," presented by Shelly Short, R.D.H., M.S.

"Oral Pathology Review," presented by Ronnie Faram, D.D.S. and Katie Higgins, D.D.S., M.S.  

"Laser Utilization and PBM," presented by Steven Fooshee, D.D.S

Keynote Speaker: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

“Tech Check: An Overview of New Technology and Evidence Based Materials Selection," presented by Parag R. Kachalia, D.D.S.                                                                                                  This course will provide an overview of the recent advances in dental technology and dental materials with respect to a restorative based practice. Participants will be exposed to new trends in scanning, design software, 3D printing, and diagnostic technology. The course will also look at recent advances in both direct and indirect restorative materials and the evidence based protocols for success. Throughout the session the course will alternate between “plug-in” technologies and new age materials, so that practitioners and team members can understand how to implement and leverage these breakthroughs. This course will demonstrate that there is no need to spend $100,000+ to be considered a technologically advanced practice.

Alumni Reception and 50 Year Celebration

The College would like to invite all of our alumni and friends to join us for a happy hour celebrating 50 years of the OU College of Dentistry! Join us for food, music, games, and fellowship. This event will be hosted on the Robert M. Bird Library Patio, OU Health Sciences Center Campus. Weather permitting, we will spill out into the Stanton L. Young courtyard. In addition, the college will host an open house and offer tours of the building. 

Time: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Cost: This is a free event for alumni and friends

Alumni and Friends Tailgate

The College is excited to once again host our annual Alumni and Friends Tailgate in conjunction with Boomer Bash! Please join the College for food and fun, ahead of the OU v. Kansas State game.

Time: The tailgate will be from 4-6 p.m.; Kick-off for the game is 7 p.m.
Location: South Lawn of Wagner Hall, west of McCasland Field House, Norman, OK
Cost: This event is free to our alumni and guests; however, pre-registration is required.
